WHO IS IT FOR?
This event is for women with an interest in pregnancy and birth and newborns. This is focused on the needs of expecting mums. Female support people, friends and doulas are welcome to attend. It may also interest women trying to conceive and new mothers.
About 30% of women in Australia give birth via cesarean section so even women who are planning an active birth and as naturally as possible may benefit from knowing what this might be like and how to improve their experience.
Giving birth via cesarean section can cause a tricky start to breastfeeding, but there are really practical steps you can take to minimise any troubles and prepare for a successful start.
For some women, the idea of cesarean section is anxiety provoking and emotionally charged. It can help to talk about your fears and explore ways to minimise negative feelings associated with them.
If you have previously had a cesarean section but are keen to have a VBAC you can hear how to maximise your chances of success.
Are you planning a cesarean or have you been told that this is the best way for your baby to be born, but wanting to make this experience as positive and gentle as possible?
You will also have the opportunity to connect with other women, share and hear insights, and build friendships to see you into motherhood.

This Circles of Women event brings together pregnant mums with childbirth educators in addition to health professionals and therapists. Each of these events has a topic to start the conversation. Where the conversation ends is anyone’s guess.
